A little bit about me.
I could probably start with what I do for a living, but this page isn’t really about that.
I’m Rochelle. I’ve always loved animals, horses, video games, being outside, creative things and collecting the kind of random life stories that somehow become more important as you get older.
My childhood included horses, swimming, tennis, family farmland, giant pumpkins, a lot of cats and a mom who once had to help five-year-old me defeat Ganon.
Honestly, that probably explains quite a bit.
Long before all of this.
Some of my favorite memories involve animals, family, being outside and a childhood that was probably a little more unusual than I realized at the time.
THE 100-ACRE SIDE QUEST
My family owned a roughly 100-acre farm. I didn’t actually grow up living on it, but it was still a meaningful part of my childhood.
My dad grew hay and other crops, and there was a huge fruit orchard and vegetable garden.
We also grew absolutely enormous pumpkins. And yes — I mean pumpkins you could literally sit on.
ANIMALS EVERYWHERE
Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.
There were horses, cats, and our Bichon Frise, Maggie. At one point we had five cats.
Apparently adult me looked at that childhood and decided the obvious next step was to continue living under feline supervision.
WHY I TYPE SO FAST
My mom worked in doctors’ offices and my dad had his own consulting business.
I used to help my dad by typing up documents for his business.
So there is a very real possibility that my ridiculous typing speed started because Dad had paperwork and I apparently became his tiny administrative assistant.
SCHOOL & THE OLDER SISTER STANDARD
My sister is eleven years older than me and she was definitely the scholarly one growing up.
I don’t think I ever felt like I was quite at her standard academically when I was younger.
But I pulled it together during my last two years of high school. Better late than never. 🙂
PLAYER TWO WAS MOM
My dad was the game supplier, but my mom actually gamed with me. Click the controller for one of my favorite childhood gaming memories.
PLAYER TWO HAS ENTERED THE BATTLE.
MOM SAVES THE DAY. ♥ GANON DEFEATED.
Horses were never just a phase.
Horses were a huge part of my life when I was younger. I started riding when I was little, and they became one of those things that never really leaves you.
This was Levi.
I only had him for about a year before he tragically passed away. It was much too short, but he meant a lot to me and he’s still part of my story.
Things I’ve loved along the way.
Different eras, same person.
HORSES
The original obsession. Still part of me.
GAMING
Started early. Clearly never stopped.
HIKING
Fresh air, trails and getting out of my own head.
SWIMMING
One of my earlier childhood activities.
TENNIS
Another part of my younger years.
My current party members.
One specializes in chaos. The other specializes in judgment.
GHOST
Ghost is energetic, curious and generally convinced that whatever I’m currently doing would be improved by adding more Ghost.
ESPURR
Espurr has a very different management style. She observes. She judges. She has concerns.
Still figuring it out.
Life hasn’t followed one perfectly neat path, and I’m okay with that.
I’ve had some health hiccups along the way too. I’ll probably write about some of those in the Journal because some of the stories are frustrating, some are ridiculous, and sometimes all you can really do is laugh and keep moving.
I still love animals. I still game. I still love horses. I still enjoy getting outside and hiking.
And apparently I’m still pretty good at getting back up and continuing the quest.
Thanks for getting to know me.
This website is basically a collection of the things I love, the things I make, the things I’m learning and whatever side quest I happen to wander into next.
